March Madness!

Hello folks!

The clocks have gone forward, the nights are getting lighter and, we are all getting covered in hair! Spring, dare I say it, is finally here! So, as we all leap forward (excuse the pun!) into this season let's just have a quick recap on what madness took place in March!

Corillo and I came out of Showjumping hibernation! Yes, we left the yard to continue training ready for our return to British Showjumping in April. We trucked over to Solihull to train with a friend- who of course told me I was doing far too much and, to let Corillo think for himself! So, on Mother's Day my coach/groom and wonderful mother spent her day at Eland Lodge whilst we jumped a couple of rounds in the sunshine and, put our training into practice around a well built course. 'Pingy' would probably be the best word to use, Corillo was very excited to be at his first outdoor show of the season; but, he definitely felt like we were heading back in the right direction after having a couple years break from competing! I'm looking forward to getting back into the ring to enjoy the super talented horse that I own!

I think March is my favourite month to coach because, it's the month everybody really sets their sights on what they want to achieve this year and, begins to make a plan- a plan I am lucky enough to be a part of! So, it's been pretty busy and, I have LOVED every second of it! I've been doing Dressage sessions- including how to get the best of out of your horse on the day: bespoke warmups, using the test to help not hinder you and, of course key words.. Bike, Seat, Handbrake to name a few! I've also held some Show jumping Clinics at Curborough Equestrian which focussed on riders developing a rhythm, maintaining control and riding their lines: I have to say they have done brilliantly in just 3 sessions, the improvement and the smiling faces is fantastic! I've also road tripped up to Somerford Park, Cheshire to the first of the 2017 Active Rider Camps. Thankyou Jane Walker for inviting me to do a talk on how to tackle nerves and become more confident in the saddle and, I also had the pleasure of meeting and helping lots of riders with some 1:1 Mental Coaching Sessions !

Of course SPCoaching is a team and, I have lot's of fabulous clients who are out and, about achieving their goals!

To celebrate this I'm going to include a

'Badass Riders of the month' section in my monthly round up blog...

This months the BADASS Riders are ...

**DRUM ROLL PLEASE**

ZARA

For competing in her first showjumping competition on her new pony, jumping two clear rounds and finishing 5th!

AMY

For taking her handbrake off whilst competing in the Team Quest competition and finishing 1st!!

MACEY

For qualifying for the 75cm Trailblazer 2nd Rounds!

So with March done it's time to 'spring' into April (I promise that was the last pun)!

Like my facebook page (SianPhippsCoaching) to keep an eye out for the April 'what's coming up' post tomorrow! There's also some more exciting news to follow!

Keep calm and Kick on!

Sian :)
